As an educator, performer, composer, conductor, and arts leader, Thomas Bergeron is committed to bringing people from all walks of life together through music.

Thomas is currently Principal Trumpet with the Springfield Symphony and the Director of Music at Deerfield Academy where he holds the J. Clement Schuler Distinguished Chair. At Deerfield, he conducts the Deerfield Orchestra, directs a pop/hip-hop band, leads the chamber music program, teaches music production and composition, produces the guest artist and Cultural Exchange Through Music programs, music community service projects, and oversees the 32-member music faculty team.

Prior to his appointment at Deerfield Academy, Thomas held teaching positions at Williams College, Tufts UniversityBennington College, Yale, Amherst College, and the Brimmer and May School. Thomas has also taught the inmates at Sing Sing correctional facility through Musicambia, worked as an educational consultant for The Harmony Program in New York City, and was an inclusive learning teaching artist with VSA Massachusetts

In addition to his own ensemble, Thomas is a former member of Carnegie Hall's resident Ensemble Connect and the Atlantic Brass Quintet, and has performed with T-PainThe Temptations, The Four Tops, Vampire Weekend, Gabriel KahaneThe Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Deep PurpleThe American Symphony, Idina Menzel, Judy Collins, Jon IrabagonArlo Guthrie, Ernie Watts, the Radio City Christmas Orchestra, and numerous Broadway shows. His network television appearances include Saturday Night LiveJimmy Kimmel Live, and CBS This Morning.

He holds two advanced degrees from Yale, where he won the Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition and received the John Swallow Award for excellence in brass playing. He also holds a Business Management degree from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst where he graduated with honors.
